Languages

At Beverley Park School we recognise that language and communication strategies are diverse and individual. All students at Beverley Park School work towards a personalised communication goal.

Staff are trained and experienced in using a wide range of communication strategies and constantly update their skills working with Speech Therapists.

We also support the study of languages including Aboriginal language in Year 7.

We recognise the diversity of languages spoken in our community, and our patient and caring staff will work with you to ensure your voice is heard. We offer translation services if required.

Language study allows students to develop communication skills, learn about languages as systems and explore the relationship between language and culture. Students engage with the linguistic and cultural diversity of societies and reflect on their understanding of social interactions.

The study of a language is compulsory for 100 hours in one continuous school year from Year 7 to Year 10, but preferably in Years 7 or 8.
