Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10. Many of our Year 11 and 12 students also participate in PDHPE Life Skills course.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6 and for 300 hours per year in Years 7 to 10.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

At Beverley Park School students are provided with opportunities to take part in a range of sports and physical activities.

We have an onsight hydrotherapy pool which students are able to access all year round for therapy needs, as well as  AUSTSWIM trained staff who teach students swimming and water safety skills.

Our purpose built Sensory Room allows students to meet their sensory needs in a fun, colourful and supportive space. Students are encouraged to develop gross and fine motor skills whilst experiencing colours, sounds and movement.

External coaches from Special Olympics and Sporting Schools visit our school to coach students in a range of sports. All coaches are experienced in working with students with disabilities.

We have a wide range of specialised sporting equipment, including bicycles and tricycles, which meet the diverse needs of our students.
