Positive behaviour for learning

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole school approach to support student behaviour and social skills. The statement "at Beverley Park School we are safe, respectful learners" is used widely to reinforce behavioural expectations. It encourages students to make positive choices about their behaviour and to take responsibility for their actions.

The school rules are written as positive statements of acceptable behaviour. The rules and expectations are linked to colours to assist student understanding. The rules and expectations are displayed around the school as posters, photographs and key messages. Alternative and augmentative communications strategies are used such as visuals and key word signing to enhance student understanding of the rules and expectations. Class and school awards are linked to the demonstration of these expectations.
